North Devon, UK,
Developed by Richt in collaboration with North Devon UNESCO Biosphere, and Charlotte Pyatt the UNESCO Worksheet Series is an ongoing educational programme using art to spark conversations with young people around sustainability, culture, and local ecology. Delivered across two major mural projects in Barnstaple and Braunton, North Devon, the series has so far engaged over 400 children across 12 primary schools, with more to come in future phases.
The series invites students to respond creatively to themes from the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly those related to nature, community, and care. Through school visits, mural tours and guided drawing prompts, the programme connects children to the unique biodiversity of the region, while instilling an appreciation for how creativity can be used to protect it.
Each iteration culminates in a celebration of the children’s work, with standout submissions receiving recognition in a public prize-giving led by Richt and long time collaborator Ricky Martin (Art Ninja, CBBC).
More than an education tool, the worksheet series is a legacy project, planting early seeds of environmental awareness through art, in one of the UK’s most ecologically significant areas.
